Twanoh State Park

We woke up to about an inch of snow on the ground, but that didn't stop us from heading to our Yoh! hike at Twanoh State Park.  By the time we reached our destination not one flake of snow could be seen.  The snow around here doesn't stick around too long.  Although it was really cold, the sun came out to greet us.  The walk was short, just 2.3 miles round trip, but it was awesome.  We walked along a salmon-spawning creek which had tons of salmon.  We spent a lot of time just watching them swim upstream.  It was so cool!

The trees were amazing, so tall, and the trunks were huge.

Staircase Rapids Hike

Today Pam & I hiked at Staircase Rapids.  It's about 7 miles further than Big Creek where we had our first Yoh! adventure.  A weather alert was posted, but we decided to risk the storm that came down from Alaska.  Boy did we get soaked.   The only thing that stayed dry were my feet...can I just say that my Vasque hiking shoes are AWESOME!?!  Anyway, we still had a great time.  I just love the sound of rushing water and the river was really beautiful.  We hiked about 3 miles in all.

I'm bummed this didn't come out more clear.  The camera lens kept fogging over.  That big rock overhang was so cool.

This little area is Beaver Flats.  This would be an awesome place to come in the summer & just dip your feet.  Unfortunately we didn't see any beavers.

I loved the fog in the background & the yellow leaves.
