Angel Falls & Curtain Falls

While it was drizzly and yucky here in the Tumwater area, we enjoyed sun & 75 degree weather on our Yoh! hike at Angel & Curtain Falls in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest.  We saw two beautiful waterfalls, tons of slugs & gross black bugs, as well as some really cool rock formations.  The hike took us up & down some very big hills, but it was worth the effort to view the beautiful falls at the end. In all we hiked 4.5 miles.  It was a lot of fun!

These huge rock formations were really neat, but the ledge/trail was really narrow in spots with a huge drop on one side.  There were some people poking around in the caves.

The trail is a figure eight.  After Angel Falls we came back onto the other side of Curtain Falls.  The view is much better from this side.

Curtain Falls is approximately 75 feet high.  You can see Tammy & Lily walking behind it.

Burfoot Park Hike & Volksmarch

I can't believe we have had 6 straight weekends of sunny & warm weather!  I hope this trend continues because it sure makes it much more fun to spend time outside.  This morning we completed a 5k volksmarch through Burfoot Park and down to the Boston Harbor Marina.  6 of us attended this combined Yoh! event.  We had 2 new people-Paula & Victoria-as well as the olde hikers (Susan, Tammy, Brenda & Gabby) and 3 rascally dogs (Winston, Pace & Lily).  We enjoyed gorgeous views of the water & Olympics as well as lots of plants that are blooming due to the unusually warm weather.  Thanks to everyone who came!

Snoqualmie Falls & Tiger Mountain

Only 3 of us made it to the Yoh! hike today at Snoqualmie Falls.  It actually was a bit disappointing because the lower part of the viewing area was closed due to construction.  The sign said it wouldn't be open again until May 2013.  We did see the upper portion of the falls & the town of Snoqualmie.  Afterwards we stopped at the east side of Tiger Mountain off Highway 18 for a picnic lunch & short hike.  I wish we would have had more time to explore the numerous trails there.  It was a very beautiful area.  We all agreed that we will put east Tiger Mountain on our list of future Yoh! hikes.
